A market-maker is not paid for calling direction. It is paid for holding a course and correcting every push, thousands of times a day. The money is in the correcting, not the guessing.
A platform, not a desk
A desk scales by headcount, so it stops where markets stop paying for human attention. An architecture scales by deployment: built once, pointed at the thousandth market as cheaply as the first.
